The aims of the research program are to:
- Address issues identified by older adults as essential for quality of life.
- Train the next generation of researchers to understand, detect and improve psychosocial factors that support mental activity, physical health and social connectedness, and embrace advances in artificial intelligence, digital-enriched environments and adaptive workplaces to deliver effective digital solutions.
- Drive the digital transformation of industries supporting our ageing population, to deliver economic and social benefits that enable people to live enriched, healthy and independent lives as they age.
The anticipated outcomes include:
- A cohort of industry-focused researchers who can identify priorities in optimal ageing, are well-versed in digital technologies, big data analytics and health economics, and understand implementation and commercialisation pathways.
- Innovative solutions, technologies and processes that will transform how we age.
- Growth opportunities for our industry partners to engage, connect and collaborate.
- Engaging middle-aged and older Australians in product development, validation and implementation.
Our Research Themes
Enhanced Cognition
Promote engagement in adaptive behaviours (physical activity, sleep, mentally stimulating activities) that preserve cognitive function in adults as they age.
Promoting independence
Develop solutions that increase confidence and ability to maintain independence in the community.
Sustaining connectedness
Working with the latest technologies to create a sense of community and reduce social isolation.
